Fun on the Move

maybe it becomes a habit, 08 November 2024

Tonight, I had an unexpectedly-satisfying experience with the Ableton Move.

Nothing really dramatic.

In fact, probably quite ordinary.

I sat in my recliner and turned on the Move to keep me company while my dinner cooked in the oven, and in that time improvised a pleasing bit of music.

This is exactly what the instrument is meant for. Filling time that maybe I would otherwise waste online watching YouTube videos or scrolling through the same news articles for the third time that day.

I have no idea if this little bit of music will ever go anywhere, but it was engaging and satisfying to poke around on the device without premeditation or intention, and without trying to drill information from the manual into my head.

I had fun!

I wanted to leave this note here for myself as a reminder that I had fun with the Ableton Move in a way that I'd hoped I would when I ordered it.

You can go to YouTube and find people posting amazing music that they've made, stuff I likely will never accomplish. I was beginning to feel like I didn't deserve this, because I was not doing likewise.

But if it can keep me company when I have a bit of free time, then it was still worth the purchase price.

NOTE: Since I've now used all the photos of the Move from Ableton's press kit, I'm going back to using my own as entry headers.
